Sequoia High School Wrestling
During the off season, you should be getting at least 5 hours of vigorous exercise per week. For some people, 10 hours per week is safe, but not everyone. When you get your physical, ask your health care professional if it is safe for you to push yourself to get to the level of conditioning that enables you to attend practices 5 days per week, plus perform at dual meets and tournaments. If you know you are at a level where about 10 hours of vigorous exercise per week is manageable before the season starts, you will be able to manage the normal stress of wrestling practice and performance at events without increased risk of fatigue, injury, and infection.

You are expected to attend every practice unless you have a very good excuse. Unexcused tardiness and absences can result in ineligibility to wrestle at upcoming events or being cut from the team. Because you are a team, encourage your teammates to meet the attendance requirements.
The schedule includes a link to a video associated with each practice or set of practices. Reviewing the video(s) prior to practice is required. Be aware that in some cases the techniques taught in a video might be slightly different than those you drill in practice. (Coach’s discretion.) Becoming at least conceptually aware of what will be taught will allow more time for drilling. Because you are a team, encourage your teammates to be ready for practice so you can use time on the mat more efficiently. If you miss practice, you must watch all videos for the practice(s) you missed and send an email indicating you have done so.
You are expected to compete. If you fail to participate in dual meets and/or tournaments without a good excuse, you will be cut from the team.
